As an artist, I feel it is my responsibility to go through the gate of imagination into the “otherworld” and bring back something which brings meaning to all of us. Every image is like a mirror reflecting something back to the observer of art, whether it is “realistic” or “surrealistic” and abstract. It will speak its truth to some part of us, whether or not this is conscious or apparent at first.

For me the “otherworld” of imagination is like taking a journey, and I can bring back something, through the medium of art, of what I have observed there. Every artist does this. Therefore, every artist is, whether s/he admits it or not, something of a “psychic”, a “seer”, or “see-er” or "shaman". And this is really not so unusual after all. It’s simply that our inner truth is expressed through outer artistic images.

Every artist then should strive to be a good “illusionist”, since what s/he is doing is creating the illusion of a three-dimensional form on a two-dimensional surface. I say good illusionist because I think that everyone who speaks the language of art ought to speak it well and with great meaning. Therefore, s/he should learn to draw well first of all! This is because, as one communicates between one world and another, the artist needs to have command of the image-language that speaks to viewers who do not necessarily speak the language of surrealism or abstraction. As Van Gogh said, “I tell you, the more I think, the more I feel that there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people.” It boils down to that. In other words, s/he needs to communicate meaningfulness and truth on many levels. I know there are those who would disagree with me on these matters.

However, since this expression – this life – is entrusted to me, and its responsibilities as an artist are placed in my hands, I share my truth, whether or not anybody likes, dislikes, agrees, disagrees with me. The responsibility to express my truth is mine alone, as it is with every artist. For me, art is how I relate to God and to others, as well as how I strive to bring connection and meaning to all of us, insofar as I may be able in any given lifetime. The beauty of this is that, no matter what forces there may be which attempt to obliterate or obstruct truth and beauty arising from the communicative powers of art, it cannot be stopped from what it is to accomplish. Art cannot lie and it cannot die, since it is one of the tributaries of the Great River of Creativity which flows from the Creator.

Therefore I believe every artist has the responsibility to not only be true to her/his own Inner Creator, but also is to act as a catalyst to encourage and bring forth the Creator in others. For if ever there was a time when we all need to summon forth the best of our creativity, that time is now. If we do not rally the powers of our creativity and focus them on generating love, beauty, and truth, how much darker shall our world become, until it is no longer blue-green and flowing, but a barren and hopeless void incapable of supporting life.

It is with this in mind that I have decided to devote and dedicate the remainder of my life to the cause of creativity and the Creator. Art is not a commercial product to be possessed because it matches the sofa. Rather it is a that which must possess the artist and the observer! It is time to raise the bar for the arts and artists [and when I say artist, I mean also musicians, writers, dancers, and all such as who are passionate about their art]. As we empower ourselves, we inspire others to greater creativity. As we empower others creatively, it comes back to us, and we are once again empowered. It's win-win for everybody, since the Universe operates by means of the Law of Reciprocity.

The time has never been more auspicious to turn our creative energies away from destruction to beauty in our world. The artist must no longer see himself as the directionless, drifting kook. Instead he may rather be like a stem cell in the collective body of humanity - with the ability to bring about healing, restoration and even transformation in ways we have not seen before.
