"Juggling a multi-faceted lifestyle and wearing a lot of different hats is nothing new to Yvonne Blasy. In addition to a lively passion for songwriting and sharing music, Yvonne is also a very talented visual artist. Her work has run the gamut from realism to what she refers to as “positive neo-surrealism” where her creative bent is allowed to work freely from the imagination. Images can emerge in any medium from pencil and charcoal to water-color and acrylic, and this artist is adept with them all.
However, her most satisfying work yet has to do with what she calls “Creative Path Exploration” where she helps people to connect with their creativity perhaps for the very first time, or explore it further. She also offers individual and group classes or “play-shops” [that’s a “work-shop” where a good time is had by all!] of a more traditional [or not?] type as well.
Yvonne says, “I agree with what Vincent van Gogh said: ‘I tell you, the more I think, the more I feel that there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people.’ Art is good for the spirit and mind, as well as the blood pressure. When people do art, they can connect on so many levels – with themselves, their issues, answers, each other, or yes, even God – in a way they can relate to. I’ve seen it happen many times when I’ve taught someone how to do something creative, or even in discussion groups where we talk about that. There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing someone grow or have those ‘aha moments’. And that’s what I’m about when it comes to art, or my music, for that matter. It’s not about ego trips or who’s ‘better’ than the next one. To me that’s the antithesis of why we’re created and creative in the first place. It’s not about competition. So as time goes by, I hope to set up more and more ‘safe space’ where people can learn to walk a more creative path. That can be at Studio Meta4, in my home, or their home, or anywhere. Certainly I welcome purchases and commissions, but more than that, I welcome people who want to grow through the processes of art. To me it just doesn’t get any better than that.”
